Friday Goodwill Finds:Book of Love

Dear Blogging Friends

This time of year I pull out my Book of Love!  With that Book of Love, I couldn't pass up shabby silk roses at Goodwill the ball jar and a brass planter!   With Valentines coming up I wanted to show you don't have to spend a lot of money on beautiful flowers.  I did hand wash the silk flowers in soap and water and let them air dry.  I chalk painted the mason jar and added my Book of Love and my chippy pink stool.  Beautiful pink roses to go in the new chalk painted planter with some of my favorite sweethearts candy, who needs chocolate!

Thanks for tuning in!

A Shabby Snow Day

Dear Blogging Friends

So what does a shabby girl do when the "The Weather Outside Is Frightful"?  She bakes shabby cookies, and I have to admit, I haven't baked since two Thangsgivings ago when I made shar sweet potato soufflé, one with pecans and one with marshmallows for each of my kids and I smashed the light bulb in the stove that went on top of the sweet potato souffle.  "Shar Sweet Potato Soufle" No one went to the emergency but we have great memories.  My sister made our first homemade cheese cake.  Memories are made from so many moments (hours) in the kitchen, don't you agree.  With that being said enjoy the pics of my sugar cookies baked with my daughter on a shabby snow day.

Stay tuned and stay warm!

Friday Goodwill Find:A Crystal Rose Bowl Affair

Dear Blogging Friends

This weeks Friday Goodwill Find is another one of my collections and loves, crystal rose bowls!  Each of these were finds at Goodwill!  I love when the sunlight shines through and you can see the rainbows.  Do you know the difference between cut glass and crystal?  Lead crystal is heavier than cut glass and when you thump the crystal lightly it will sing!  I'm no expert but if you are fortunate enough to own pieces from "The Brilliant Period" never wash in hot water!

Magnolia & Milk Glass

Dear Blogging Friends

I have to apologize for no Goodwill find this past Friday.  My daughter was in town and we were so busy.  She's helping me plan and purchase for my hall bathroom.  Yes, my first DIY for 2016!  More of that soon.  So, on the way to work last week, I spotted this magnolia tree, I have literally passed it over the last 25 years who knows how many times and never even noticed it.  I noticed it more I think because I need some green!  With all the Christmas decorations gone and the weather well can I say "Brrr" my cold mantel needed some green!  So, one day at lunch I trimmed that magnolia tree and made my first, yes first magnolia wreath, brought in a few pieces of milk glass and my daughter wanted cauliflower and it was on sale! So much inspirations around us we don't even notice.  Do you agree?
